And then the sun disappears below the horizon, and one by one, the streetlights come on. Restaurants switch on their own lights, each creating its own little glow, and together they give the city a special atmosphere – a kind of unhurried liveliness. The streets are still busy, but everything seems to slow down a little. Many Parisians and visitors are already making their way to restaurants and bars, ready to breathe out and relax after a busy day. The city lights create the perfect setting for it – magical, yet accessible to anyone willing to take a leisurely walk through the streets and enjoy the elegant balance of light and shadow.
As a photographer, I find night photography and cities at night especially captivating, and Paris has a particular attraction for me. Here, the play of light and shadow reaches its peak, and interesting moments seem to appear everywhere. All you need is to find the right angle, hold your breath for a moment (so you don’t blur the shot when using a short shutter speed), and press the shutter-release button.
Then comes the best part, looking through the photos later on a computer screen, or turning them into wall art, as I did with my Midnight in Atlanta photo.
What follows is a collection of photos of Paris at night and Eiffel Tower at night that I took during our summer trip. Enjoy looking through them with a glass of wine or a cup of aromatic tea, sometimes a little visual escape is all you need to lift your mood.
