Looking out the window. Cats photography

Meow! The sound to which every cat lover has a special warm feeling. It’s pleasant to hear it when you sit on a couch and caress their soft, almost silky fur—occasionally falling asleep relaxed from the warmth of their bodies and unceasing purring.
The following online photo gallery is dedicated to cats photography. It was inspired by Saint Petersburg’s cats, who regularly sit on the windows and observe the street lifestyle. That’s probably the next favorite thing they do after sleeping and eating. Cats owners, do you agree with me?

I took all these photos when I lived in Saint Petersburg’s historic downtown, where it’s common to see a cat sitting on a windowsill, balcony, or small window. They are always there; the only thing you have to do is pay attention to notice them. What distinguishes a great photographer from an amateur is the ability to notice, see patterns, and be extraordinary in the most mundane day.

It took me half a year to get together this collection. Photography was still a second job back then, and I had little spare time to walk around, pay attention, and take photos of what my artistic eye noticed. And those cats, all together and each in their own way, added some peculiar vibes to their neighborhood. Some look relaxed, others wonder, and only some are frightened. Every cat has its own character, which shows in its posture, eyes, and movements. One trait they share is a love to look around and observe. They look like they have all the time in the world and almost millennial wisdom expressed in their meditation-like poses. And that’s what I like about cats. How about you?

Through a Vintage Film Camera I Found Time Again ...

Taking photos with old vintage film camera for the first time felt like stepping into another era, a world slower, quieter, more deliberate. It was frustrating, yes, but also strangely illuminating.

Digital spoils us with endless clicking: trial and error, rapid-fire bursts, the safety of delete buttons. Film does the opposite. It asks for restraint. Every shot mattered.
Film captures intention. There’s no instant feedback, no glowing screen to reassure or correct. You press the shutter, and then you wait.

Film whispers the value of patience, intention, and quiet artistry, virtues so easily lost in the world of instant everything. It reminds me that photography is less about chasing perfection; but more about presence.

More romantic and nostalgic feelings expressed in words in my new article, link in the Bio.

A weekend away feels like stepping into a softer version of life, where time slows and every detail feels magical. Morning coffee tastes better when sipped under foreign skies, with unfamiliar streets waiting just around the corner. The joy of wandering without a plan makes every discovery feel like a secret meant only for you. Sunsets turn into gentle promises that tomorrow will be just as beautiful. And when it’s over, you return home carrying little pieces of that place tucked inside your heart.

The whole process of taking photos really begins with noticing something special around you. This is especially true for macro photography.

In nature, there is no perfection; sometimes, it feels chaotic but charismatic in its wilderness. One planet, yet so many weather patterns, landscapes, temperature differences, rivers, lakes, oceans, flowers, and trees. We like to think that we know how nature works, but it still surprises us. Nature is genuine, it knows how to maintain balance, and with my nature and macro photography, I show its visual diversity, elegant serenity, and simple beauty.

Happy weekend!

October 2013. I was sitting on a bench in Valencia’s Old Town (Ciutat Vella - ESP) completely mesmerized by the incredible beauty surrounding me. Ornate balconies, warm-colored facades, cobblestone paths, and that golden Mediterranean light… it was all too beautiful to fully absorb in one sitting. My pro Nikon camera rested on my knees, marking me as the tourist I truly was. But in that moment, I didn’t mind. I wanted to look like someone soaking it all in, without the haste inherent to someone who has been here hundreds of times.

Every step through Valencia’s Old Town pulsed with a seductive energy I hadn’t felt in a long time. It was as if the city itself was flirting, with its balconies dripping in bougainvillea, the echo of flamenco from a far-off courtyard, the tiled details on forgotten walls. It fed my soul, and I was hungry for more.

Even the signs in Spanish gave me that quiet thrill. Like running your fingers across a soft cashmere sweater, familiar yet luxurious, comforting yet new. I wanted to wrap myself in that feeling and never take it off.

When I boarded the small plane to Seville , I felt a mix of sadness and anticipation. I wasn’t quite ready to leave Valencia but I was excited for what was next. That’s the thing about solo travel: it’s a dance between holding on and letting go. Between pausing and pressing forward…

2013. It was 8 AM when the plane landed at El Prat Airport in Barcelona—the first stop of my audacious journey...

The warm Mediterranean air wrapped around me like an old friend, instantly inviting me into the unknown. I had no idea what this city held for me, or what the next one would reveal. But something inside me whispered that this trip would change everything. And it did.

Exploring Barcelona felt like being dropped into a dream painted in bold colors and old stories. Every street, every building, every shadow held a secret for anyone willing to look and listen. I’ll never forget running my fingers along the weathered stone walls in the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gótico), or how my eyes couldn’t get enough of the kaleidoscope of color and whimsy in Park Güell. I stood in awe before the towering masterpiece of La Sagrada Família, trying—and failing—to comprehend its enormity. That trip taught me more than how to navigate new streets or pack light. It taught me to slow down, to feel deeply, to embrace the sweetness and the ache, and to live as an open-hearted observer of life.

It reminded me that being a stranger in a city isn’t lonely—it’s liberating.

And in the spaces where I felt most unknown, I ended up finding pieces of myself I didn’t even know were missing.

And it did.
